What is $WIF?
dogwifhat (WIF) is a Solana memecoin based on a well-known photo of a Shiba Inu wearing a pink knitted beanie. The image became a profile-picture trend on Twitter in 2019, with edits adding logos to the hat. The WIF coin leans on that simple joke, often summed up by holders as "literally just a dog with a hat," and on the catchphrase "the hat stays on."
The token was created on November 20, 2023 and first traded on Solana decentralized exchanges, with its official website going live a few days later. No team is publicly named. Over 2024 it picked up major exchange support, including a Binance spot listing in March, Coinbase perpetual futures in April and a Gemini listing in September. In March 2024 the community also crowdfunded a campaign to show the meme on the Las Vegas Sphere.
The community gathers on X at @dogwifcoin, on Telegram under dogwifcoin and at dogwifcoin.org, where holders often use the hat-wearing dog as their avatar.
