What the Owl checks on Solana

On Solana the dangers sit in the token's authorities and in how the launch went: can someone print more or freeze your tokens, is the pool's liquidity burned, and did a few wallets grab the supply at launch.

  • Mint and freeze authorityCan anyone still print new supply, or freeze your tokens so you can't sell.
  • Token-2022 trapsTransfer fees, permanent delegates and transfer hooks that let the creator take or block your tokens.
  • Liquidity: burned, locked or can't be lockedPer pool: burned or locked liquidity, and DLMM/CLMM pools whose positions can't be locked at all.
  • The dev's bagHow much of the supply the creator still holds.
  • Bundles, snipers and launch buyersWas the supply grabbed in the launch block or the first seconds, and do those wallets still hold it today.
  • A sell testDoes selling work, and what does it cost.

Free, no account. A check takes a few seconds on Solana. Want the grades, the dev's earlier coins and linked wallets too? That's the full scan - how the Owl grades.

Common Solana rug pulls

Freeze authority left on
The creator can freeze any wallet's tokens: you can buy, but never sell.
Mint authority left on
New supply can be printed and dumped on buyers at any time.
Token-2022 fees and delegates
A transfer fee the creator can raise, or a permanent delegate that can move tokens out of your wallet.
Bundled launches
The dev buys a large share across many wallets in the launch block, then sells into the first buyers.
Pulled liquidity
Liquidity added to a pool that isn't burned or locked and removed once enough people have bought.

Questions

What does the Solana rug checker check?

Mint and freeze authority, Token-2022 traps, Liquidity: burned, locked or can't be locked, The dev's bag, Bundles, snipers and launch buyers, A sell test. Each check shows what it read, or why it couldn't be read.

Is it free?

Yes - paste a contract, no account needed. A check takes a few seconds on Solana.

What are mint and freeze authority?

The mint authority can create new tokens; the freeze authority can freeze any holder's token account so it can't sell. On a memecoin both are usually revoked - if either is still on, the creator keeps that power.

Why can't some Solana pools be locked?

Concentrated-liquidity pools (Meteora DLMM, Orca and Raydium CLMM) hold liquidity as positions rather than LP tokens, so there's nothing to burn or lock: whoever owns a position can withdraw it. The Owl shows these pools as 'can't be locked'.

Does 'Passed' mean the coin is safe?

No. It means none of the checks found a red flag at that moment. Memecoins are risky, and things change after a check - the dev can sell, liquidity can be pulled. Not financial advice, and not a price call.

Who can see that I checked a coin?

Nobody. Your scans are private. Rug checks are public - the coin gets a public page with the result - but who ran the check is never shown.
